Obituary

Sorrell Stein, 87, beloved husband of Barbara “Bobby” Stein (née Herzog), joyously married for 64 years; loving father of Lesley (Richard) Kessler and Julie Stein Urbanus; cherished Grandpa of Lauren Kessler, Carly (David) Rothman, Brittany (Jeff) Tarr and Allie Urbanus (fiancé Geoff Perlman); treasured great-grandfather of Jayden and Mackenzie; dear brother of the late Byron Stein. Sorrell and Bobby met while they attended the University of Illinois. They built and experienced a wonderful life together equally devoted to each other with everlasting and boundless love. Sorrell and his dear brother Byron were truly entrepreneurs before that term became overused; they started with an idea and then built from scratch, Morgan Container Corporation, which they ran for 30+ years. Sorrell attained great success in business as he always treated everyone with the utmost respect, greeted everyone with a big smile and never spoke ill of anyone. Sorrell was a man of his word. Sorrell was a lifelong Cubs fan who unabashedly cried when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. Sorrell was fond of telling all that his greatest pleasures in life was being with Bobby and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Whenever all were together he would always say, “Let’s do this again.” Sorrell was rich in all things that matter most in life, and he will be sorely missed and forever fondly remembered by all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org. Services were held at Shalom Memorial Park. To view a recording of the service, go to www.Shalom2.com.
